I never had a chance

"Jets!"  

That was baby Darren's first word.  And ever since that fateful day he's never had a chance.

"If things had been different, I could have become a Giants fan," Darren lamented last Sunday while watching "the team which shall not be named" defeat the Green Bay Packers. "But, no; I became a Jets fan during my formative years.

"Imagine having been able to root for Phil Simms and Eli Manning instead of the likes of Al Woddall, Ken O'Brien and an aging Boomer Esiason. I was too young to watch Joe Namath and, anyway, I never approved of his lifestyle.

"Everyone sees me as a happy-go-lucky guy.  Nobody realizes that I cry my self to sleep every Sunday night."
